Time with Grannie

When I was eight months pregnant with Dax, I stubbed my 4th toe on the end of our kitchen island.  It hurt like no other and I was pretty sure it was broken but I didn't really think much about it since there's not much you can do about a broken toe, right?  Wrong!  8 months later I was still in pain and finally went to the doctor.  My toe was dislocated; the bottom of the two toe bones was sitting about 1/4 inch to the left of its original spot.  The doctor asked me why I didn't come in sooner....um??? I sort of laughed when he asked, who goes to the doc for a stubbed toe? Obviously not me.  But I should have. He told me had I gone in within a month of stubbing it, he could have "popped" it back into place, but now there was too much scar tissue.  The only way to fix it was surgery.

And so, we did.  Ouch!

I had to be completely down for 3 days.
But lucky for Liv and Dax, Grannie Kitty came from Florida to visit

Park Time

Dax looks extremely happy about this set-up

A visit to Temple Square

And Discovery Gateway

We were able to carve pumpkins while Grannie was here, Liv could not wait

Dax, on the other hand....
"What in the world?"

Leave the pumpkin, I'll take the spoon

Getting the guts

Our beauties together

It snowed for the first time of the season while Grannie was here so we took a drive up the canyon.
It was beautiful!

Our 1st Dance Performance

Liv's dance class performed at the "Spooktacular" event at the Bountiful Rec Center for Halloween.

Olivia is back left

The whole class was supposed to be in a circle at this point, but Liv was too fascinated with the crowd around her.  Her class waited until she joined them to move on.  It provided a good laugh.

She finally joined them, and the dance resumed

Look what I found!

After a fantastic birthday party

Dax is now a tummy sleeper, sans swaddling, plus a new blanket.
But he doesn't want it to cover him, he just wants to ball it up and sleep on it while playing with the "fringies""

Our Copycat

Lately Livv is in to copying others.

I caught two examples with the camera yesterday....

When Olivia is scared during the night or doesn't feel well, I lay at the end of her bed and use her extra blanket as "covers".

Last night I tucked her in and when I went back in to check on her,
her "babies" were all tucked in....

But they were scared so she "laid" with them (and promptly fell asleep)

For some reason my bedroom door doesn't stay open on its own,
so I have been using a shoe to keep it open.

The same night that I found her at the end of her bed laying with her babies,
I also found her door being propped open.

What a funny stage and yet flattering.

Kirk Turns 31

Happy Birthday Kirk!
We had a "Movie Night" with a few friends to celebrate.
Between the activities and great company, the night was awesome.

Kirk's favorite cake: pumpkin pie
(luckily at this time of year, it just so happens to be available at Costco! Lucky me!)

Getting ready for the movie to start

Our new movie screen

Treat Table

The Blakes

The Mclaughlins

The Goughs

We watched "Cloudy With A Chance of Meatballs". It was perfect weather and a perfect night....until Liv threw-up all over Kirk while snuggling with him during the movie. Luckily, the movie was almost over
and it didn't make us end prematurely. Apparently while being the "host", I wasn't paying attention
to how much she ate. With hamburgers and hotdogs for dinner and then treats, popcorn and soda
after for the movie, she totally overdid it.

No worries, it was still a great night!

Liv Starts Preschool

My firstborn started school, Unbelievable!

As I posted before, Olivia was so excited to start school; we counted down the days like we do for her birthday.  And so, taking a "round" of pictures to flatter mom before we left for her first day of school, just about killed her.

She goes to school Tuesday and Thursday from 9 a.m. until noon.  On Tuesdays she has tumbling the first hour and then 2 hours of class, and on Thursdays she has ballet the first hour and then 2 hours of class.

Preschool- age 3

Since she couldn't write her year yet, I printed it out and let her color it

Plus the backpack (that she chose much to Kirk's dismay)
Yes, its almost bigger than her, it may tip her over at anytime!

At school, at last!

Sitting on her star, ready for tumbling

2nd day of school, ready for ballet

The first two days were a success!  She loves her teacher Miss Ashley (which she pronounces Ash-e-ly with three syllables) and told me she already has a best friend, Maia.  When I asked her if she likes tumbling or ballet more, she told me she couldn't choose, she LOVES BOTH (if you can imagine her saying that in her dramatic voice, it makes it all the better :))

Dax and I both miss her while she is gone but I look forward to picking her up and hearing all about her day.  She is hilarious when she tells me about it, I laugh most of the way home!

Its amazing all that she soaks up and is able to learn at age 3.  I may be biased, but she is SMART!
