House Update

You asked for it.....so here it is!

(Sorry for the photo album.....I will try to stay on top of the progress better!)

Here is the house up to this point. Things are coming along well, we would love them to be a slight bit quicker, but Kirk is doing a great job. Especially managing his time among work, school, the house and his family. We hope to be in soon. Our goal is to be in the house by mid-January, ambitious as it may be, we pray for it everyday! Thanks to all who have helped us (or offered) by either working in the house or watching Livvy.

BEFORE....

Sadly, we didn't take too many pictures before we started.
This is the kitchen, taken from the dining room. Notice the great wall oven.
(Kirk had already started demo when this was taken)

The pink bathroom, our master was just like it in baby blue.
I loved using the sledge hammer, it was fantastic!

NOW.......

Same bathroom as above: access to the attic, and our new insulation.

Same bathroom, and oh, yes, you can see right through to the master bath as well!

Our new canned lights and the filled holes from the old light fixtures.

Don't be jealous of the orange shag carpet....it will soon be gone :) We are finishing the wood floor underneath with a dark cherry color.

New plumbing...impressed? You should be!

New wiring, we replaced everything in the house, including the main wire into the house and this box. The old one was too small and wimpy.
And the crawl space underneath the kitchen, I HATED being under there with Kirk, it gave me the heebi-jeebies! Too many creepy crawly things, or so I kept imagining.

Office, all patched up.
Don't be jealous of the drapes or the green paint color either, they will both be gone as well.

Livvy's room....and yes, the blue will also be gone

Livvy's room, other side. The wood paneling had to go....it left a mess!

Master

Master Bath and the new tub!

When you walk up to the front door, is there any sign of construction taking place?

Front room, looking into the kitchen, separating wall half removed.

The stereo/intercom system, we were almost sad to take this out (especially the in-wall record player), but it was so old and to update it would have cost a fortune. It left huge holes in all the rooms.

Like this one, for example, in the front room

and this one in the master bedroom.

Kitchen...slowly being patched. And the hole in the floor that dad was afraid would kill one of us eventually.

A glimpse of the backyard and the sacred 17th hole of the golf course!

And yes, that is a fabulous place to park the RV.....that we don't have :)

And now, even further along because I started this post over a month ago!!

drywall is up

closets have been built out to fit the doors

Tile is done
(Kitchen, Notice the wall is completely gone and patched up.)

Kirk and my cousin Tyler, who is a pro at tiling

And the list goes on and on.....I haven't taken pics for a couple of weeks so we are even further along. Tile has begun in the bathrooms, taping, mudding and texture will be finished this week. Closets are done and doors are being hung and the furnace is now working. (It had to be re-wired, we accidentally snipped a wire when taking out the stereo system)

We are so excited to get this done!!!

Honey, I cannot wait to live here with you.....soon, real soon!

HOW IN THE WORLD?

I just published a post that I started over a month ago about our house.....but I want it to post in the most recent postings instead of by the date I started it...how do I do that? I think I need to change the date on it somehow ? HELP?
(for now, scroll down to October for the new post)

No is the new Yes

Livvy's new and favorite word is NO! She picked it up from her cousin Carter while I was watching him this week.

She walks around the house saying, "No-No", "no-no-no-no", and just "NO" (this one she sings). She even says it while she is doing something naughty and knows she is about to be in big trouble!

I can't help but laugh when she asks for something, I repeat back to her what she is asking for, and then she says "no-no". I want to ask, "is today opposite day"?

Maybe she thinks that "no" means "yes"?! This would explain why even when I tell her no, she does it anyway!

NO is definitely the new YES!

Too Funny!

A couple of nights ago at Young Women's, one of the girls said to me and one other leader,

"Aren't there people in the world who don't celebrate Christmas?
They celebrate somebody else, two people actually, I think their
names are Phyllis and Naaa.vi.dad. Do you know who I am talking about?"

She stumped me for a second, and I was thinking REALLY hard and then it hit me and I busted out laughing (trying not to hurt her feelings of course, but I could not help myself!) I said to her, "Do you mean Feliz Navidad? It means "Merry Christmas" in Spanish."

I am still laughing about it tonight, and I laughed even more about it when the song came on the radio last night. HEHEHE! Oh, from the mouth of babes. They make for a great laugh.
